FormiCraft Apollo
When designing the Apollo, our main goal in mind was to make ant keeping accessible to anyone, which is why we designed it to be as budget-friendly as possible, using laser-cut cast acrylic and 3d printed parts, but making sure we did not sacrifice quality or durability for the lower price point.
The FormiCraft Apollo arrives with two acrylic lid pieces, one being the clear acrylic, which will be screwed down into the model, and the other being the red-tinted clear acrylic, which sits on top of the clear acrylic and around the screws to hold itself in place. The red tinted acrylic hangs over the edge to allow for easy removal and replacement, without having to undo screws to easily observe the ants.
The nest contains a hydration system, with a reservoir and gypsum blocks on either side of the nest, as well as a mesh to prevent ants from entering the reservoir even if they chew through the block. The reservoir can be refilled using a pipette or syringe with water.
There is an access port on the front of the nest, this allows for a 10mm PVC Tube to be added, a 9-10cm long piece of tubing being supplied with the nest, as well as a stopper on the end of the tube to prevent it from being open-ended.

Please note:
As with all self tapping screws, they are able to cut their own screw threading into the material. When screwing back into the main model, rotate anticlockwise until screw enters original thread, which can be found when the screw drops down off the ledge when rotating counter clockwise. Once screw has been entered into threading, rotate clockwise to fasten and anticlockwise to unfasten.
